1. How would I benefit from CranioSacral, Ligamentous Articular Strain and Lymphatic therapies? Gentle fascial and fluid mobilization techniques where bones are used as levers to affect the fascial fluid complex of the hydraulic system that bathes the brain and spine, Including the Dural tube intrinsic to the cranial system, as well as the fascial attachments and diaphragms of the skeletal system. For this reason it is useful for postural alignment and optimum bio mechanical function and movement,
2. What reasons would I choose this therapy for treatment? It is useful for acute injuries, whiplash, post concussion symptoms, chronic pain syndromes as well as inflammatory conditions. It is a gentle whole body therapy that includes areas that other therapies may not treat (such as intraoral, sternum, thoracic cage and ribs, abdominal organ sheaths and diaphragms, groin and presacral fascia). Ligamentous Articular Strain, Fascilitated Positional Release and Still are mobilizing techniques that encourages realignment with minimum disruption of the tissues to reduce inflammatory response and to promote drainage and self correction. Muscle energy, Structural Integration and Counterstrain techniques relax and strengthen muscles for optimal structural integration and postural rebalancing.
3. What are the emotional benefits of this therapy? It is ideal for stress management because it stimulates the parasympathetic rest and digest nervous system. This therapy addresses emotional posturing and armoring patterns (re: jaw clenching, elevated or rounded shoulders) which can cause physical pain and symptoms. Unwinding and Positional release techniques addresses the physical proprioceptive response involved in physical, emotional and infectious trauma long after the injury or illness has occurred. It stimulates the release of unwanted energy and the integration of the breath of the spine and nervous system (primary respiratory mechanism). Energy, Qi, and breath flow better with optimum alignment of spine, joints and tissues which promote faster recovery and healing.
4. Why would I choose visceral manipulation? This therapy is useful for adhesions due to surgery (appendix, gall bladder, hysterectomy, breast reduction and laparoscopic surgery), some sports related and other impact injuries that affect organs such as the heart, liver, lungs, spleen and kidneys). It is useful for encouraging digestion and peristaltic movement because of the effect on the fascial sheaths and nervous system. Urogential manipulation is useful for reducing tissue adhesions and stress, therefore optimizing fertility.
5. Is this therapy covered under insurance? Most techniques are covered under RMT services and scope of practice. DOMP osteopathic treatments are covered by most insurance companies.
